With the recent attack on Elnaye's account and our subsequent loss of the guild bank for a few days I thought I would readdress the proper process of securing your account to be able to play safely and without fear of being hacked.

First and foremost is a couple of myths I want to dispel:

Use a Mac, they are virus free!

The reason that Macs are considered safe is that 89.4% of all users that get online are doing so on a Windows based PC platform. Only 8.9% of users are using a Mac, the other 1.7 are using

24 Hour Downtime Tuesday for 72 Servers to Make Them Cataclysm Ready

Blizzard's announced a 24 hour downtime window for a large group of servers, from 12:01 AM Pacific time on Tuesday, June 8th, to 12:01 Pacific time on Wednesday, June 9th. All other servers will have a normal downtime window of 5 AM to 11 AM Pacific time.

IOW: No raids thanks to Blizz Tuesday and Wednesday (dude, with something this massive going on, do you REALLY think they'll have the shit fixed on time, or even if they come up, be stable enough to raid on? Didn't think so ...).
